Throughout his life, Gus Jansen* has been involved with different ministries at the various churches he has attended. Despite having moved all around the country and being a member at a number of churches, he always went back and visited the congregation where he attended as a child in rural Wisconsin.
Remaining a bachelor, Gus wanted to make sure to leave a legacy behind that would benefit others. He also wanted to increase his current income. After hearing about gift annuities through a friend, he contacted his church's gift planner, Ron Smith from Gift Planning Services, LLC.
After meeting with Ron, Gus discovered that he could set up a gift annuity which would allow him to receive payments now and to ultimately leave gifts to the Lord's work. He decided to name his home congregation the ultimate beneficiary of his gift annuity. And because he didn't want any recognition, he chose to leave his current gifts anonymously and his name will only be disclosed after his death. After calling so many locations "home" across the United States, Gus is glad that he can supplement his income currently and still provide a gift at his death to the church that helped shape his connection with God.
